Note: These steps work on most distributions running Gnome desktop, but it should be easy to export this method to other desktops.

NETAPP storage

Shared folders of each research group are located to the NETAPP storage and they are configured with backup. We open the browser (Nautilus, Konqueror...) and click "Other Locations". In "Connect to Server" we have to introduce the network drive address:

smb://disk.dtic.upf.edu/research_group

If no specific resource is specified the server will show you all the resources it’s instructed to show. Home directories will always be hidden, but shared folders are shown by default.

You can use the URL smb://disk.dtic.upf.edu to see all shared folders.

LENOVO storage

HPC'S folders and datasets are located to the LENOVO storage and they are not configured with backup. We open the browser (Nautilus, Konqueror...) and click "Other Locations". In "Connect to Server" we have to introduce the network drive address. They are:

smb://samba.ccp.upf.edu/datasets/research_group

smb://samba.ccp.upf.edu/home

f no specific resource is specified the server will show you all the resources it’s instructed to show. Home directories will always be hidden, but shared folders are shown by default.

You can use the URL smb://samba.ccp.upf.edu to see all shared folders.

Authentication

Next we will have to type the password. We’ll need our username/password of the shared files server. Also we can choose to store the password in our computer so we don’t have to type it every time. Remember to correctly set up the name of the domain, which must be set to 'CCP', in capital letters.

Once the username and the password have been verified, we’ll have access to the files stored on the shared drive.
